Here’s a seasonal Medicare checklist to help you stay organized and proactive:

Spring: Refresh and Prepare

  • Review your current Medicare plan. Are your providers and prescriptions still covered?

  • Schedule preventive screenings or wellness visits. Spring is a great time for checkups.

  • Look into fitness or wellness programs your plan might offer—many Advantage plans include benefits like gym memberships.

Summer: Stay Informed and Healthy

  • Traveling? Make sure you understand what your Medicare plan covers when you're away from home.

  • Stay hydrated and protect yourself from extreme heat. Some plans offer resources or nurse hotlines for advice.

  • Revisit your medication list and ask your doctor if everything is still necessary or if generics are available.

Fall: Evaluate and Enroll

  • October 15 to December 7 is Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP).

  • Review changes to your current plan for the upcoming year—costs, coverage, and provider networks can shift.

  • Compare plans and make adjustments if needed to ensure your coverage still fits your lifestyle and budget.

Winter: Plan and Prevent

  • Get your flu shot and other seasonal vaccines—many are fully covered by Medicare.

  • Update your contact info with Medicare or your plan provider to stay in the loop.

  • Reflect on what worked this past year and what didn’t—use that insight to guide future decisions.
